Robin Bery is a Copenhagen-based contemporary artist, multidisciplinary creative and editor-at-large of The Editors. His journey began in graffiti: travelling across Europe, meeting people, capturing moments and painting, shaped by the culture of rap music and art. Discovering Basquiat eventually took his work from trains to canvas. That culture still runs through his paintings: portraits and details of real artists and imagined personas, painted in flat, graphic forms. He is now working on a new project, a series called What We Carry.

Carry
What We Carry moves from the ‘I was here’ of a writer’s tag to ‘someone was here’. Large, moody canvases of unnamed figures and portraits by the sea sit alongside small paintings held in driftwood that crossed water nobody can trace. A personal series about crossing, belonging, and what we hold on to when everything else is left behind… About the stories that have never been told, and some that never can be.
